Intro / Bio

My name is Matthew Harwood.  I have spent my career as a technical illustrator, creating illustrations for the aircraft industry. Then I became a 3D modeller, creating worlds for computer games and then architectural models for a specialist design and build company.

Over thirty years in front of a computer.  I actually love computers, but I didn’t want that to be my whole career.

Back in the late eighties, I was an apprentice illustrator at British Aerospace, touring various design departments. I spent some time, more than I should have, working in the photography department. I enjoyed it immensely.  They thought I showed aptitude and asked me to switch apprenticeships. I stayed with illustration, but sometimes wondered how my life would have turned out if I had followed that path.

I felt the time had come to explore photography so now I am dedicating my time to explore and experiment. My pictures celebrate the beautiful landscapes of Sussex and beyond and record the unique character of Hastings, where I live.  Here are the photographs.
